Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

Commissioner Bobbie Daniel recently met with Palisade native Kaibab Sauvage, who supports our community through grape growing, wine production, and running a business that brings enjoyment to both residents and visitors.

During their conversation, Commissioner Daniel asked Sauvage to share his perspective on the Japanese beetle issue. The pest poses a serious threat to vineyards, orchards, and local businesses if not addressed directly.

Our Japanese beetle eradication efforts have seen strong results thanks to the partnership of growers like Sauvage, other Grand Valley fruit producers, and engaged residents. Together, we are committed to protecting our crops and preserving what makes Mesa County unique — peaches, grapes, wine, and the vibrant agricultural heritage that enriches our community.
