Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

Commissioner JJ Fletcher shared comments at the Feb. 25 public hearing on his excitement for the economic boost Morgan Mining will bring to our community as they have decided to expand, bringing a mining-focused hub to Mesa County at the former Halliburton plant location, 365 32 Road in Grand Junction.

“This will bring about 893 jobs to Mesa County, and in the mining industry, these jobs will pay around $92,000 or more,” Commissioner JJ Fletcher said.

The company, a leader in construction, mining, engineering, and management, received approval for the Job Growth Tax Incentive, valued at up to $10.89 million, contingent on job creation and salary requirements.

Commissioner Fletcher also acknowledged the Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP) for facilitating the expansion. For more details on the expansion, visit the Grand Junction Economic Partnership website.
