Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

Before you toss your newspaper in the recycling bin after your morning read, consider it could provide comfort and cleanliness for animals at Mesa County Animal Services (MCAS), located at 971A Coffman Road.

Shelter pups learning potty training rely on newspapers to keep their spaces clean. It is a constant effort for MCAS to keep up with the demand for papers to line crates and catch waste.

Anyone willing to donate a newspaper can drop them off at the shelter at 971A Coffman Road, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This seemingly small act of kindness makes a big difference in the lives of animals in our community.
